“Territorio de Zaguates” is in the Zaguates area, in Costa Rica and a “No-Kill Shelter” while the dog a sanctum is.
The project tries to solve the problems of the straying dogs in Costa Rica and is passing to lives for 600 dogs currently who are in search of the second chance and a new one at home.
“Territorio de Zaguates” began as the most mad project on this planet which is aimed exclusively on the dog, according to the people of the big farm for dogs. The project takes up all dogs who were left by people and must live on the street.
“Territorio de Zaguates” is a long way off, in the mountains of Carrizal de Alajuela and Santa Barbara de Heredia.
Visitors are warmly invited to take part in the wanderings with more than 600 dogs. An experience which they can nowhere presumably make, otherwise, in the world. Costa Rica is valid as one of the most advanced countries in Latin America. Climate protection, nature conservation and forest protection are important components of the state environmental politics and are moved strictly also by ecotourism.
“Territorio de Zaguates” is the country of the Stray Dogs and a paradise for dogs. They may dig, freely move, with others play and just be a dog.
The Finca is, in the meantime, property of this project by donations from the whole country is supported. In spite of many place on the Finca the dogs need the movement which they get with the wanderings by the nice scenery. This is an important component of this project and incredibly. It proves that even so many dogs can live peacefully with each other without closing them in solitary confinement and tiny “cells”, as usual at most animal homes. Above all for traumatised dogs and dogs on the street lived and are used to freedom.
Visitors are welcome to take part in the walks, which also benefit the dog. They are socialised by the visits and presence of the people and are able later better to acclimatise to her new home.
Also visitors with dog are invited to these wanderings by which her dogs get not only contact with other dogs, but also movement. For enough water is also provided to bend forward a dehydration of the dogs. Everywhere along the travelling distance there are water troughs.
Who would like to take part in such a wandering, should take good travelling shoes, waters, snacks for the wandering and rainwear.
However, people with a lower fitness level, can remain also at the animal home with the dogs they cannot go along.
A paradise for dogs they search a new home and hopefully get just one….
